Frequently Asked Questions
Here are answers to the questions we hear most often. If yours isn’t here, give us a call. You’ll be talking to the person who does the work.
Google ReviewsAbout Working With Us
Who will I actually be talking to when I call?
Usually Chandler, the owner. He’s the one who looks at your property, puts together your estimate, and runs the machines on the job, so you get answers from someone who knows the work firsthand.
How big is your crew?
There are four of us, including Chandler. It’s a small crew on purpose. It keeps the owner involved in every job and means the people you meet before the work starts are the same people doing it.
How long have you been in business?
Superior Land Management opened in August 2021 and has been clearing, mulching, and digging around East Tennessee ever since.
Do you work with homeowners, contractors, or both?
Both. Most of our customers have been homeowners and landowners, but we also work with builders and general contractors and take on commercial projects.
What happens if something isn’t right after the job is done?
Call us. We stand by our work, and if something is wrong, we’ll come back and fix it. Our whole approach is to do it right the first time so it doesn’t come to that.
Scheduling, Hours & Service Area
What are your hours?
We’re available 24/7. Regular project work happens on a schedule that can run anywhere from a few days to all seven days of the week depending on the job, but if you have a storm or emergency situation, call any time.
Do you handle emergencies after hours?
Yes. Fallen trees after a storm, a leaking water line, or anything else that can’t wait until morning. We’ve been out digging up a leaking line at 3 a.m. before.
How far will you travel?
We’re based in Knoxville and mainly work within about 50 miles, including Lenoir City, Sevierville, Jefferson City, Blaine, Corryton, and Morristown. For bigger projects we’ll go farther. We’ve worked as far as Kingsport. See our Service Areas page.
How soon can you start my project?
It depends on our current schedule and the size of your job. Call us with the details and we’ll give you a realistic start date rather than a promise we can’t keep.
Estimates & Payment
Do you charge for estimates?
No. Estimates are free. We’ll come out, walk the property with you, and talk through what it needs.
Why isn’t your price always the lowest?
Because we price the job to be done right, with the time, equipment, and care it actually takes. If the lowest number is the only thing that matters, we may not be the right fit. If you want the work done once and done well, we’d like to talk.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Cash, check, and Venmo. We don’t take credit cards, which lets us avoid passing card processing fees on to our customers.
Do you include travel costs for jobs far from Knoxville?
For larger projects well outside our usual area, travel and lodging may be built into the quote. We’ll be upfront about it when we give you the estimate.
Your Project
Can you handle everything from clearing to getting my lot ready to build?
Yes. We can take a lot from wooded to ready for construction: clearing, the house pad, footer prep, septic, and concrete. The only thing we don’t do is framing.
I’m not sure whether I need land clearing, forestry mulching, or excavation. Where do I start?
Start with a phone call. Tell us what the property looks like now and what you want it to be, and we’ll recommend the right approach. Many projects use more than one service.
What should I have ready before I call?
The property location, a rough idea of the size, what you want to use the land for, and anything you want to keep. Photos help a lot. Our Resources page has a short planning checklist.
What kind of equipment do you use?
We run Caterpillar equipment, including the excavator we use for forestry mulching and dirt work. We keep our machines maintained so the job doesn’t stall.
